On January 28, 1992, Munawar Faruqui was born in Junagadh, Gujarat. Munawar Iqbal Faruqui is Munawar’s full name. The riots in Gujarat in 2002 claimed the lives of his entire family.
His family struggled greatly to survive when his house was damaged during the communal disturbances. Munawar’s mother took her own life at the age of sixteen. Following this, his father moved to Dongri, Mumbai, after growing tired of his chaotic existence in Junagadh. His father attempted to start again in 2007 after moving to Dongri, Mumbai.
However, Munawar Faruqui was left in charge of her three sisters’ marriages when his father passed away in 2008 while he was lying in bed. Following this, he turned to selling utensils in a store to support himself. He used to finish his computer course at night and sell utensils in the store during the day. Following his completion of an IT course, he was employed in an agency as a graphic designer.
