Born on 27 February 1964 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, Kunickaa Sadanand grew up in a well-established and culturally diverse family. Her father, Manjunath Sadanand, served the nation as an Air Vice Marshal, while her mother, Kalyani Sadanand, came from a Punjabi-English background.

Raised in Mumbai alongside her two brothers including actor-director Kabir Sadanand and two sisters, Kunickaa’s childhood blended discipline with creativity. This balance would later shape her versatile personality and career choices.

She pursued her schooling in Mumbai before enrolling at the University of Mumbai, where she earned degrees in Legal Sciences and Legislative Law (LLB), specializing in Human Rights. Later, she furthered her studies with a Forensics degree from NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, which equipped her with the expertise to step into law and advocacy.

Kunickaa began her acting journey in the late 1980s, debuting with the 1988 horror film Kabrastan.
